Ten years earlier, Bernard and Mathilde had met, loved passionately and separated violently. By chance, Mathilde, after many years, comes to live in a house opposite the one where Bernard lives with his wife Arlette and his son Thomas. Mathilde also got married, to Philippe, an air traffic controller at Grenoble airport. Passion starts to flare up violently between the two former lovers, in an alternating game of rejection and attraction. In the end it is Bernard who makes the irrevocable decision to end a useless and unfair relationship but Mathilde does not give up and is even forced to go to a clinic for nervous diseases. Everyone remains by her side, Philippe bitter but understanding, Bernard, who tries to at least show his friendship, Arlette, who is expecting a second child. Mathilde seems recovered and decides to move…
