One Life, the film directed by James Hawes, is the true story of Nicholas Winton (Anthony Hopkins), a British stockbroker and the son of German-Jewish parents. In the 1930s, the man saved hundreds of children from Nazi extermination. We are in Czechoslovakia on the eve of the Second World War, Winton is 29 years old and creates a rescue plan, known as Operation Kindertransport (literally translated as "child transport"), which involves the transport of hundreds of children, including many Jews, out of from the country before the start of the conflict. Thanks to this operation, the children were hidden and saved from the concentration camps. Nicholas Winton, wanted to react to the apathy and indifference of the Government and managed to make a total of 669 children escape before the mission was interrupted due to the closure of the borders.
